Dojo Discernments
Hi all! Welcome to this weeks edition of Dojo Discernments where I share nuggets of thought earned on the mats this week.
Most Helpful Quote
"As I see it."- Brian Glick
Before professor Glick extends his thoughts on a topic, often times he precedes it with this quote. "As I see it." This quote holds so much weight because of the action it causes. It takes regurgatation of information and turns it into synthesis and original thought, seeing clearly for yourself.
Take what you study and don't copy it. Synthesize and create from it.
What I'm Thinking
Reject Modernity
Not accepting what is new for the sake of being new. Looking instead for what in timeless and everlasting. Not listening to the static or the noise but looking for the true signal.
Rib Injuries
This idea of thoracic rotation and health is humungous when it comes to keeping your ribs healthy. At some point, if you haven't yet, you're going to have to deal with a rib injury. I have thoracic mobility and ankle mobility on the schedule for our pro class this weekend.
Do you schedule in time to commonly injured body sections?
Resolution
We are a bit late into the month for resolutions but better than never. This years' goal is to do less. To refine, to shave down, to leave more margin for the things that I care about. Not taking on too many new projects so that I can ultra focus on the on the ones hat I've already commited to. Vamos!
Range Day
This past weekend we just had our 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu and Defense Strategies Group Range Day. What an incredible turnout with over 15 of our students showing up and out to learn and build their familiarity and skills with a pistol. We are looking forward to scheduling and seeing you at the next one!
